New project by the Romanian Maltese Service
The Romanian Maltese Service continuously professionalises the social services provided to the beneficiaries by developing the associations staff and initiating new projects to support local communities.
The “Catholic mission as means of community capacity building” project starts in March and has primary goals such as building stronger collaborations with the local catholic communities, supporting the importance of charitable work and volunteering, forming new volunteers, forming a national crises intervention volunteer team for different cases of emergency such as natural disaster, extreme situations, refugee crisis or other crisis situations.
The duration of the project is 1 year and contains several main events as following:
– Sport Tournaments (4 separate occasions),
– Youth Summer Camp and Festival,
– Chorus and Youth Band Festival,
– Forming a national crisis intervention volunteer network,
– Volunteer leader training courses
– Spiritual exercises
– Other local activities organized by Maltese affiliates in close collaboration with catholic Parishes.
The national project maganement team includes 5 regional youth coordinator s (one coordinator for Satu Mare, Baia Mare, Sighetu Marmației, Oradea region; one coordinator for Cluj-Napoca, Aiud, Blaj, Sibiu region; one coordinator for Brașov, Sfântu Gheorghe, Miercurea Ciuc, Târgu Mureș, Micfalău region; one coordinator for Arad, Dorobanți, Timișoara region; and one coordinator for București, Pitești region), a project coordinator, a social worker, a youth coordinator and a PR & Communciations specialist.
The basic idea of the project was born by the present day situations, like refugee situations, natural disasters, climate changes, global warming, epidemic and disease situations. We see al these on TV, on different online platforms and it`s changing our lives.
The Romanian Maltese Service continues its mission in working for the benefit and care of the community in a better, more proffessional way by forming new volunteers.
