The Romanian Maltese Relief Service

The Romanian Maltese Relief Service (SAMR) is a non-profit organization headquartered in Cluj-Napoca. For 25 years, through our 17 subsidiaries and branches in the country, we are developing programs for the benefit of those in need – the elderly, the sick, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. 1,200 volunteers are constantly involved to help them live with dignity, without distinction of ethnicity, religion, gender or political affiliation.

Christian values and the humanitarian principles is the foundation of our actions: The Romanian Maltese Relief Service is the bearer of the Sovereign Order of Malta mission.

Our Mission

The Romanian Maltese Relief Service provides consistent assistance and help for people in need, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, social and political affiliation, to improve their quality of life, being governed by the principles of Christian love.

Our objectives

The development and implementation of social services to reduce the vulnerability of persons at risk

To stimulate younger generations to be actively involved in the development of the communities they belong to

To promote social and medical volunteering

To continue the tradition of over 1,000 years of the Order of Malta in supporting the sick, the poor and those socially marginalized

To increase the public safety and awareness by providing first aid services

To provide help and support to victims of natural disasters
