All the children have the right for relaxation and playing games, regardless of social situation and support of the family. The camps for children are the best occasions to step out of their everyday life, to spend time in nature, to play with other children, to take part in different sport and educational activities in a well-organized setting.
Unfortunately, many parents cannot afford the costs of a camp, especially in the case of large families and families with low incomes. The Maltese Relief Service helps them by offering children coming from families in need the possibility to take part in such a camp. With the different educational activities we follow their skills development meant to help them throughout the school year with the school tasks, thus preventing school abandon. We also organize camps for Maltese volunteer children. With these camps and activities we wish to transmit children the Maltese spirit and values, implication and the wish to help people in need, defense of faith, values and elements which carry the continuity of activities and the future development of the organization.
In 2007 the following camps for children were organized: ‘Camp for Maltese children’ (80 children) and ‘Camp for children coming from large families and families in need’ (50 children) organized by the Maltese Youth in Sf. Gheorghe; ‘Children camp in Lichtenstein’ 16 children and 4 young people from Satu Mare took part in it; ‘Creative camp’ (6 children) and the camp ‘Children we are besides you’ (13 children) organized for the children in ‘Sf. Elizabeta’ children’s home in Tg. Mureş.
