The Romanian Maltese Youth has over 450 active members (young people and children) in 20 branches, own Regulations for inner order and distinct activities. Since 2007 with the modifications to the organizational statute, it has become an associated structure for the youth recognized by the National Authority for Youth and it has been functioning under the stated conditions by GO no.26/2000 adopted by modifications and amendments by Law no. 246/2005.
This way the domain of activity of TMR specified in the statute has direct reference to the youth, and the majority of the undertaken objectives focuses on the youth.
The Governing Circle of TMR is in charge of the organization, elected by the general meeting of TMR, the main decision-taking authority. It is carrying out a set of actions for youth, in accordance with the national objectives of youth in the domain, supported and formulated by the National Authority for Youth.
The objectives of TMR focus on organizing and carrying out activities for the benefit of young people, the community and the society in general, in which mainly young people are engaged.
The aim of this organization also focuses on training young people in accordance with the SAMR principles, in order to ensure the continuity of its activities, as well as to educate young people and to offer them adequate free time activities. The Maltese Youth is built up of two major groups: groups of young people and groups of children. They carry out their own projects within the branches but they also get involved in the activities organized for adults.
The main activities carried out by the Maltese Youth are the following:
Socio-humanitarian activities:
• visiting old people
• humanitarian aid distribution
• activities with the disabled
• activities with street-children, children coming from large families, children in state institutions, Gypsy children
• visiting lonely people in hospital a.s.o.
Religious activities:
• spiritual exercises
• participation at mass
• activities within the congregation a.s.o.
Educational activities:
• group leader training
• courses for instructors
• first aid training a.s.o.
Playful activities:
• organizing camps for children and young people, beneficiaries of social programs, and for Maltese volunteers
