Annual Camps for Physically Disabled Children

The Maltese Youth of the Romanian Maltese Relief Service has been organizing camps for physically disabled youth since 2003, about 45 young people take part. Here, the Maltese youth wish to organize educational activities and common games for young people with special needs and physically healthy youth.

This theme camp accentuates social integration of physically disabled young people not only by offering the opportunity to relax but also by counseling, occupational therapies, and first of all a place where young people coming from different parts can meet, exchange life experiences, talk about their own problems and results.

For many of these disabled young people this camp is the only occasion to leave their everyday space and spend time in nature together with people of their age. We thus try to encourage disabled young people to take part in active life showing them examples of success among the disabled youth, and to help them regain confidence.
