Complementary social activities

The Romanian Maltese Relief Service runs a series of temporary and occasional projects meant to support the disabled people and raise their life quality. Thus, at the different branches we distribute humanitarian aid consisting of food or clothing parcels, ensure complementary services for home nursing, basic medical services, offer equipment and accessories necessary for the disabled – wheelchairs, crutches, walking frames, nappies for incontinence, beds.

The social services offered to disabled people alter according to their age, to their chances of social re-integration and the necessities expressed by the disabled themselves. This way, sport activities for disabled youth were organized, occupational therapies carried out in cooperation with other specialized organizations, for example the candle workshop, IT courses and primary book-keeping.

Everything started as a challenge and became one of the most important events in my life. Retired into a quiet area next to Sfântu Gheorghe, for a week we live unforgettable moments, we feel the pleasure of meeting again, the love and devotion of those who organize this camp. Far from the luxury of the camps organized in the west, but with outbursting love and naturalness, we meet new disabled young people year by year, new Maltese volunteers, have dreams and live the certainty that passing the obstacles of the wheelchair, or our crutches, there are wonderful things which are worth living for.
