Medical Services
First Aid

Being devoted to his vocation, the Order of Malta carries on its assistance service for those who are in need, the sick and the poor in more than 120 countries. Traditionally, the Order gets involved with the help of the sick, having been offering medical services (hospitaller) for over 900 years.

At the moment, many medical assistance programs for people in need are running: surgeries, home medical assistance, homes offering medical assistance and pharmacies.

The cooperation between the County Ambulance Service in Constanţa and the Romanian Maltese Relief Service was accomplished under very good conditions focusing on two directions for cooperation: training and giving premedical first aid. As far as training is concerned, we mention the first aid courses organized in the Danube Delta, in C. A. Rosetti and Cardon areas. Representatives of local authorities, the local doctor and representatives of the hatcheries from the area took part in this training. As far as first aid giving is concerned, SAMR together with CAS in Constanţa ran a first aid point on Bellona beach in Eforie Nord for two years. The cooperation between the two organizations was a very good one, the SAMR rescuers integrated into the intervention team without any problems. This type of cooperation is welcome also in the future.
